FXGen not found in Fire v 8.2

I can’t find FXGen anywhere. It’s not inside the Fire .app bundle, it’s not in the install DMG, it’s not in the Tools menu in Fire as the documentation suggests it should be. Yet the documentation insists it’s included with Fire. Am I crazy?

You’re not crazy ;). Right now FXGen is not in Fire yet; it’s available with the CrossBox download. http://crossbox.me.

I’ve just fixed a rather bad problem with FXGen on El Capitan, i suggest grabbing the latest version here: RemObjects CrossBox - 8.2.90.1898.zip (5.1 MB)

Great, I was just about to report that it was crashing on El Capitan.

Btw I just downloaded the latest CrossBox from http://docs.elementscompiler.com/Tools/CrossBox/Installing/ and when I run it I get a message that it’s damaged and should be put in the Trash. I haven’t used CrossBox since 8.1.something as I’ve been playing with Fire but I wanted to get everything up to date after the 8.2 release.

I have pasted below the lines from Console that contain crossbox:

12/1/15 7:28:22.111 PM crossbox[57137]: WARNING: The Gestalt selector gestaltSystemVersion is returning 10.9.1 instead of 10.11.1. This is not a bug in Gestalt -- it is a documented limitation. Use NSProcessInfo's operatingSystemVersion property to get correct system version number.

Did you try redownloading? Sometimes they do get accidentally damaged.

The version i uploaded had a problem with signing, yes. the FXGen side is ok though. I’ve also updated the public CrossBox on http://crossbox.me now, it should have the signing fixed (that seemed to have been a one-time fluke) and contains the fixed FXGen.

Hmm, i just double-checked again (as i did before publishing last night), and “RemObjects CrossBox - 8.2.89.1899.zip”, which in get from that URL, runs ok for me. it does not have the code signing issue that the version i posted here a few days ago had…

I tried the crossbox.me version a few times to no avail. Then I just copied the .zip from the newly-installed VS version in my Windows VM, unzipped that CrossBox.app, and it ran just fine. This is also the .1899 version. I wonder what the issue is?

Weird. Can you run the downloaded .app over RBAppCheckerLite?

Sorry - what’s that?

Will check in a while - running for train now.

One more question - my Register server… menu in my VS 2013 is grayed out. Sorry if this is trivia but I haven’t played in VS for a while. Both the VM and the Mac with CrossBox are on the same network as always. Do you have steps I can follow to troubleshoot?

This is over a year old.

https://docs.elementscompiler.com/Platforms/Cocoa/ImportingLibraries/

“FXGen is a standalone .app, but included as part of CrossBox and Fire, and you can launch it from the CrossBox Dock menu, or from Fire’s “Tools” menu.” (My emphasis.)

OK, sorry I’ve revived a very old thread. Now I see that one should sort search results by date, not by relevance, which is apparently default.

Now I’ve downloaded CrossBox, but it won’t start because it says it needs Mono. Is this needed, just to be able to run FXGen? The reason I’m evaluating RemObjects C# is partly because I don’t want to involve Mono or Xamarin in my development strategy,

Yes its needed to run fxgen but its not required for the applications your creating unless your developing something for mono.
