Nexus 7 (2nd gen) showing up in adb but not Oxygene

After a bit of battling with windows 8, I got my Nexus 7 (2nd gen) showing up as a portable media player in windows and when I run adb.exe devices -l it shows:
List of devices attached
xxxxxxxx device product:razor model:Nexus_7 device:flo
(Serial number redacted)

Yet in Oxygene 7.0.62.1449, the device doesn’t show up anywhere in the CrossBox Local list.

If I unplug it and plug in my Nexus 5, that one shows up in the Local list pretty quickly and I can debug apps on it.

Any suggestions? Anything you want me to try?

Is this the currently unreleased beta that generally gets released at the end of the month? Because I’m on beta now and it says I’m up-to-date. Just making sure.

Okay, so I went and logged in and checked and 1453 is a RELEASED beta. My Oxygene is on 7.0.62.1449 and claims “Up to date”. I even manually click the Refresh button on the version list screen in the program and it still claims “Up to date”. Why is mine doing this?

Can you log into the portal and than go to https://secure.remobjects.com/portal/downloads/xml? what does it say? mine says

Can you post a screenshot of what your update dialog looks like, exactly? Also,mare you sure you’re logged in with the right account that has beta access?

Does that cover it? As you can see, I’m already on the BETA. So it knows I have BETA access.

not necessarily. the BETA flag is purely driven by the version number, it says nothing about what it finds in the XML. If you are logged into Everwood Live with a different user, you’d not see the betas, even though you have one installed, so if you could double-check that, that;d be appreciated (i’m out of other ideas ;).

(note that in the opposite scenario, NOT having a beta installed WILL hide beta notifications. But if you’re on a beta, as you are, you’ll (or should) see Beta and RTM updates from the XML).

Okay, this is getting rather frustrating.

This is my personal machine that I bought Oxygene for. I’ve never logged into it with anything other than this jpierce account you’re seeing. I’m not even sure what logging into “Everwood Live” is supposed to mean. Just as I have since the beginning, I entered my account info into the RemObjects License Manager and you see it in that screenshot above. Is there some OTHER place to enter it? If you’re just talking about the website versus the window you get when you click “RemObject License Manager” in Oxygene, here’s what it looks like on the website:

As you can see, it says “jpierce” all over the place. That’s who I’m logged in at everywhere that I can think that you’re asking.

Again, this has all worked fine, up until this first 7.0 beta came down the pipe. Since I went to it, it doesn’t seem to understand how to get new betas again. I can download and install this manually, but I’m posting this because I assume you care that your auto-update process is broken.

Please, ask me some specific questions or somehow work with me to help me help you. Or just tell me it’s not important and I’ll ignore it and hope it’ll go away and just do things manually.

One thing that might be notable is that whether I click the Beta Downloads or Gamma Downloads link, I’m only seeing GAMMA downloads.

If I click on the “show individual downloads” link on the beta.aspx page, it expands to:

Which shoes gammas, betas and alphas.

My recollection was that before the beta.aspx page shows the latest BETA and that the gamma.aspx page showed the latest GAMMA. But maybe I’m remembering wrong. It really does seem like something has been pushed incorrectly on your server.

No, that’s the one. if you only have one account for both, then you’re good, in that regard.

of course i do, yes. i wanna solve this — but i’m out of ideas what the issue could be — especially since (a) the info is in your XML and (b) it seems to be working for everyone else. The only thing left to do i can think of is sending you a test app with the update check code embedded that logs some stuff, to get a feeling for what its seeing on your system. Would that be ok? if so, i’ll prepare that early next week (really swamped this week with getting 7.0 out the door by friday :wink:

i notice in yur screenshots that you were still on 1449 (not 1457, which was then current). i do take it though that this issue persisted for you across multiple beta versions?

no you are right. this got too confusing though. the BETA page now shows ALL re-releases, people should go there to beta test, and this way they won’t miss stuff when we go gamma. the GAMMA page still only lists gammas. people should go there if they don’t want unstable betas.

Either will be in the XML (as you saw) and the Everwood version check goes by the XML (if you are logged in, which you are) — and a different/public XML if you are not.

i’m hoping that the test app next week will help us sort this out. thanks for being patient.

I’m not 100% sure what to say to this. When I first got onto 7.0, it was with the file RemObjects+Oxygene±+7.0.62.1449.exe that I downloaded from the website. Since then, it has always claimed to me that 1449 was the up-to-date beta version.

I took the liberty of XXXing out your login token. :wink:

this is odd, it can’t retrieve the XML with your authentication. Did you change your password since you last entered it into Everwood Live (and since you last installed a new Oxygene build — which also needs the token to download licenses)? I’d expect the license download to catch this and ask for the new password, but i guess the update code did not — i’ll log that for improvement.

in the man time, can you delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RemObjects\Everwood\Live\Account registry key and restart VS (or the test tool)? this should ask you for the login details again.

Oh, I certainly changed my password since the first time I installed Oxygene several months ago. I could have told you that if you’d just asked. :smiley:

So yep, that was it. BTW, just a tip from the user’s side of the support relationship. I have no real handle upon which to hang your talk of “Everwood Live”. I never see a screen that says “Everwood Live”. Once I erased that reg key and started Oxygene, the prompt that came up said nothing about “Everwood Live”. The only place I even see the word “Everwood” is in the “Show RemObjects Everwood Welcome Screen”. And that screen itself doesn’t say anything about “Everwood” (much less “Everwood Live”).

I think it’s one of those cases where you’re using internal lingo that outsiders really don’t have a lot of knowledge of. As a programmer, I’m pretty familiar with this trap. Just a tip!

thing is, it should have asked for a new password (or, if there’s a bug with that, failed) the last time you installed a new build. New build means it needs to download a new license. Odd.

all the new Welcome/Licensing stuve is “Everwood Live”. the logjn, the license management, the version dialog.
