I didn’t receive any email notifications for the replies made to the two posts I created yesterday.
When I looked at my account preferences, I see that the suffix .disabled has been added to my email addresses, which likely explains the lack of notifications. 
Is this an intensional configuration because this site is just a demo, and you didn’t want to confuse people by having them potentially receiving emails from topics that exist in both the Talk and Connect websites?
BTW, I’m going to remove that .disabled suffix and see how notifications work and look.
