When installing Embarcadero Prism XE3 on Windows Vista Professional 64 bit machine I get the error message:
Unable to execute file:
\devenv.exe
CreateProcess failed; code 2.
The system cannot find the file specified.
Visual Studio is not listed in my registry.
From the readme file:
IDEs and Requirements
Oxygene integrates with the Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012 IDEs. Future versions will add integration for other cross-platform IDEs, including MonoDevelop and Eclipse. If you do not have a copy of Visual Studio 2012 installed yet, Oxygene will install the Visual Studio 2012 Shell for you. (You will need to download the larger ISO for this option; it will also install any requirements for Visual Studio and the compiler, including the Microsoft .NET Framework, if necessary.)
I burned the file prism_xe3_win.iso onto CD and tried the install again with the same results.
Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1 and 4.5 are installed on my PC.
I am not sure what to do now and need help.

Hello,
We haven’t seen such problem before. Could you please provide us more info? Did the shell setup actually run? If yes did you have any errors during the installation? Also does the VS Shel 2012 looks like installed (but missing some registry keys)?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
The VS 2012 Shell doesn’t support Windows Vista. Only Windows 7, 8, Server 2008, 2012.
You can install VS2010 on Vista (from July release) and then update an Oxygene.
Best regards.
Does this mean I can install VS2010 shell on Vista from an earlier version of Embaradero XE2 Prism or I am left buying VS2010 shell from Micro$oft?
"Does this mean I can install VS2010 shell on Vista from an earlier version of Embaradero XE2 Prism " correct. and then just install the non-ISO version of Prism XE3 on top, and it will integrate into VS2010.
I just posted this on the Embarcadero site:
OK I got a reply from the RemObjects site which said: The VS 2012 Shell doesn’t support Windows Vista. Only Windows 7, 8, Server 2008, 2012.
You can install VS2010 on Vista (from July release) and then update an Oxygene. I then asked for the method the answer which was: install VS2010 shell on Vista from an earlier version of Embaradero XE2 Prism and then install the non-ISO version of Prism XE3 on top, and it will integrate into VS2010.
So I installed Embarcadero Prism XE2.5 (which I had never done before and I had already delete Embardacero XE2 because XE3 is running now). The same icon came up pointing to devenv.exe in my root directory. I deleted that icon. There is another icon left called “Embarcadero Prism in Visual Studio 2010” which targets “C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe”. I ran it and VS2010 ran with a flashscreen showing two choices, RemObjects Oxfuscator and Embarcadero Prism XE3; I ran the second choice and Prism XE3 started in trial mode. I had the choice of entering my Embarcadero XE3 serial number which I did and now I think the product is working properly now.
