Anybody used USB network gate by Eltima

Hi, I have a Mac Mini and obviously, a PC running visual studio and Oxygene and remobjects C#.
I don’t have the mac and pc networked and I hope to use this usb cable software to develop for the Mac on the pc. Will this cable setup work?

thanks

Anything that provides an IP network will work — whether it’s Ethernet, Wifi, or 1:1 networks such as ad hoc wifi, Thunderbolt or USB connections. Currently, CrossBox will not work over non-TCP/IP networks (i hadn’t expected such a thing t still exist today, TBH ;).

im curious though, what’s your reason for not networking your computers?

Well, I don’t have them networked because my wifi router died recently and I have been using a single cable. I am using a human switch to move the cables from the Dell pc and the Mac mini. I thought why not use a two port ethernet server card and Splashtop so I can develop on the Dell, and control the Mac through gigabit cable using Splashtop. In other words the two computers will be networked, but through 100T ethernet cable. My hope is that this setup will be fairly responsive in the “control the Mac mode”. I am thinking the performance will be better than wireless.

By the way, the mac mini is running Lion server, osx 10.7. Is there anything interesting that I can do with crossbox because of the server capabilities?

That should be more than fine then, yes.

OS X server is just admin panel for some unix-like services (network related, apple-specific as store cache and some wiki). As a core OS X and OS X Server are same.

I can not imagine any need for communicate from own app with OS X Server-specific apps (wiki is the only case).

Thanks for the information. I bought the Mac mini server because it had a more powerful cpu. I have never found any use for the ‘server’ part of it. Maybe I will setup the wiki as a personal data assistant.

AppStore cache for home network is also very good! Just turn it on in Server app, it will just works!
